SPARC [conversations]
I started SPARC [conversations] while at Case Western Reserve University. I wanted to create a platform where students could discuss social and political events. SPARC stands for society, politics, art, research, and community. The programming consists of a yearly conference as well as panel discussions throughout the year.
I am long graduated but the organization's energy lives on. In October 2019, SPARC hosted a panel to discuss the Hong Kong protest. It was led by a professor in Chinese politics, Director of the Department of Political Science, a professor in political behavior, and an attorney in Hong Kong who had family participating in the protests.
